Secretary Ross and Ivanka Trump Appoints Charlotte’s Mayor, Vi Lyles As An Advisory Board Member For The American Workforce Policy


The board, created by President Trump’s executive order on last summer, is made up of 25 prestigious constituents such as: Apple CEO Tim Cook, IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, Visa CEO Al Kelly, and other distinguished representatives. There are four in-person meetings scheduled each year, for the next two years, after which the board members will end their term. The meetings scheduled this past Wednesday, was held at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and lasted approximately three hours long.

On Monday, March 5, 2019, while speaking at a media event, Mayor, Vi Lyles, announced her appointment and stated she recently found out through Central Piedmont Community College President, Kandi Dietemeyer, after being congratulated.

Lyles seem hopeful and affirmed that she’s looking forward to reporting back to the city’s council members more information about the board’s endeavors. However, she did share that the board will focus on identifying the workforce needs of our country and will discuss issues such as education and job training programs.
